Knife and Fork Restaurant - absolutely the best restaurant in Spruce Pine with an award-winning chef who was recently profiled in Southern Living Magazine; farm-to-table ingredients! Located on the top of Lower Main Street. Call ahead for hours, reservations and menu options (some dates offer only pre-fix menus or themed menus).
The Tin Shed - open seasonally (April to October) and located on Altapass Highway next to Soggy Bottom Farms, this literal farm-to-table kitchen serves dishes made from their own farm. Their burgers are amazing and the "crispy onions" are the best you'll ever have!
The Tropical Grill - huge menu offering everything from Cuban Sandwiches to Guatemalan omelettes to Quatro Leche cake. Family owned & operated and located on Upper Street. Great selection of hand-crafted jewelry and bags, too.
Mountain View Restaurant - great menu with full bar and amazing views with both indoor and outdoor seating; fills up quickly, especially on weekends and during peak summer and leaf seasons and they do not take reservations. Located at Hwy 226 and the Blue Ridge Parkway.
DT's Blue Ridge Java Cafe - coffee and sandwich shop on Lower Main Street in Spruce Pine; also has their own ice cream store and FREE WIRELESS INTERNET!
Little Switzerland Cafe - casual mountain dining with innovative menu and cute gift shop next door; indoor or outdoor seating located just off the Parkway in Little Switzerland. Hours/days vary seasonally so be sure to call ahead.
El Ranchero Mexican Restaurant - huge menu and amazingly low prices for authentic Mexican cuisine; located on Lower Main Street in Spruce Pine.
Famous Louise's Rock House Restaurant - located just off the Blue Ridge Parkway at the intersection of Hwy 221 and 183, this down home cooking restaurant actually sits on 3 county lines; great stop if you're heading to or from Linville Falls.
Blind Squirrel Brewery & Restaurant - located in Plumtree on US-19 adjacent to the Toe River, about 20 minutes from Parkway Peek. The brewery features wonderful craft beers ranging from smooth Belgiums to Sours to Stouts. Their restaurant offers home-cooked meals from sandwiches to flatbreads to tacos to burgers and more. Hours vary seasonally so call ahead.
FAST FOOD OPTIONS: Spruce Pine offers the usual Taco Bell, KFC, McDonald's, Burger King, Subway (one located in Walmart, the other on Hwy 226), Western Sizzlin, etc.
Shopping - while there are some cute shops located in the heart of Spruce Pine, there are many more opportunities to check-out local artists and stores in the nearby towns of Bakersville and Burnsville. We've listed a few local places we frequent below:
Wal-Mart Supercenter - located about 10 minutes from our house at the corner of Hwy 226 and Halltown Road; everything you'll need from groceries to clothing to pharmacy items.
ABC Liquor Store - located about 10 minutes from our house on Hwy 226 in the Grassy Creek area; closed on Sundays. Ingles and Walmart sell beer/wine after 12PM on Sundays.
Grassy Creek Hardware Store - located about 10 minutes from our house on Hwy 226 in the Grassy Creek area, they carry just about anything you need for repair or construction projects.
Southwest Trading Company - located on Upper Main Street in Spruce Pine, this store features great rustic furniture and decorative items.
Toe River Arts Council - located on Upper Main Street in Spruce Pine and features the works of local artists with items for sale; open Tues-Sat.
